So you want to soar? Great. Here is a checklist to get you started and let you know what to expect.
Who do I call?
You can set up an intro flight or other inquiry through either one of these PSS members. They will both be happy to help you:
Is there paperwork?
Yes, you should down load the Daily Membership Form, print it, fill it out and bring it will you to the field.
What does it cost?
Refer to the PSS fee schedule for information on membership dues and tow fees. Intro ride rates are:
- $100 Grob Astir includes tow to 3000′ agl
- $90 SGS 2-33 includes tow to 3000′ agl
We are glad to take checks (made out to Piedmont Soaring Society) or cash.
What should I bring?
You will want to bring a few items with you, these include:
- Filled-in daily membership form
- A hat (without a button on top, as these can damage canopies)
What time should I come?
PSS operates on flyable weekends and during the week by appointment. We will try to work with your schedule, but normal flight operations generally start around 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
Where should I park?
When you arrive at the field, follow the gravel drive about 1/4 mile down to the shade shelter just past the windsock. There is parking on the near side.
